This blog consists mostly of common sense responses to happenings (news articles, political events, etc) that just cry out for someone to say "WHOA! Hang on a second, here!" Too many people get away with just inventing their own facts as they bull-rush their way through an argument.

Unless you're dodging a taxicab or sidestepping a falling gargoyle, it's usually wise to take what time is available to evaluate and apply actual common sense. Good, old wisdom. It is, of course, my opinion, but I'll try to show why I think it's factual.
Thomas Paine said, "To argue with someone who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead." ... but I argue with drunks, egomaniacs, anti-gun Statists, Socialist/Keynesians and climate-fraud peddlers, too.

OUR Government

I want to be clear.  SophosArchaeus has written reams of supported and footnoted facts calling out the usurper Left [and those that claim to be 'Conservative', 'Republican', 'Libertarian' et al, but are actually Progressive or Anarchist] that is currently "leading" our country into the ground.  But this is not to say that I "hate the government".

I love OUR government.  Our government is Constitutional and Representative.  Our government is of, by and for the People.  Our government is only as big as it must be and only tries to do what it has the authority and need to do.  I want our government [and by extension, our military and Law Enforcement] to have all the advantages.  I want them to have the latest, strongest, biggest, fastest, toughest, most devastating and one-sided weapons, intelligence and manpower in human history... 
...and restraint and integrity rather than arrogance and political-class narcissism.  And, first and foremost, the People who lend some of their power to the Representative, Constitutional government demand that every member of that government acknowledge and hold themselves constrained in a few things:

...that Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. ~ 1st Amendment;
...that the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. ~ 2nd Amendment;
...that the right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized. ~ 4th Amendment;
...that in all criminal prosecutions, the accused shall enjoy the right to a speedy and public trial, by an impartial jury of the State and district wherein the crime shall have been committed, which district shall have been previously ascertained by law, and to be informed of the nature and cause of the accusation; to be confronted with the witnesses against him; to have compulsory process for obtaining witnesses in his favor, and to have the Assistance of Counsel for his defence. ~ 6th Amendment;
...that the enumeration in the Constitution, of certain rights, shall not be construed to deny or disparage others retained by the people. ~ 9th Amendment;
...and that among those dozens of other rights [given by our Creator and not issued nor revocable by any politician or bureaucrat] and powers [granted by We, the People], it is our government (especially the Feds) that is limited, while the powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. ~ 10th Amendment.

When our "representatives" recall that they may tax and expend only a minimal amount of our money, only pass or enforce laws that are absolutely necessary within their power and equally binding upon them as upon the rest of us, then they will once again be an American government.  Until then, too many of them are simply a greedy, dishonest gaggle of foreign-style, class-war mongering, anti-American usurpers [see: Traitor, n.].
