WELCOME!
This blog consists mostly of common sense responses to happenings (news articles, political events, etc) that just cry out for someone to say "WHOA! Hang on a second, here!" Too many people get away with just inventing their own facts as they bull-rush their way through an argument.

Unless you're dodging a taxicab or sidestepping a falling gargoyle, it's usually wise to take what time is available to evaluate and apply actual common sense. Good, old wisdom. It is, of course, my opinion, but I'll try to show why I think it's factual.
Thomas Paine said, "To argue with someone who has renounced the use of reason is like administering medicine to the dead." ... but I argue with drunks, egomaniacs, anti-gun Statists, Socialist/Keynesians and climate-fraud peddlers, too.

**PLEASE share this around. I didn't research, consider, write and post this junk just to have it hidden.
And feel free to comment.**

WE are America...

Last deal: the race card (from the bottom)

There has been much indiscriminate slinging of the trigger-word, “racism” recently. Armed thugs with paramilitary uniforms and racist insignia chase voters away from polls and are not prosecuted. The same splinter group (fortunately not representative of their race) shouts for murder of another race and all their children as a political option. Others (again, a small minority of their people) shout “the Race!” in their attacks on those they call “racist” for lawfully seeking the same sovereignty that every nation on Earth has always sought. They prefer the place whose corrupt squalor drove some of their families to climb barbed wire and cross deserts. The U.S. Justice Department under Holder and Obama (and most media) has no interest in these; or in the sovereignty, for that matter.

The Progressive DOJ joins La Raza and a degraded NAACP (abandoning their "sensible" history to support the New Black Panthers) in throwing “racist” at the Tea Parties. The ones labeled are the same tens millions of working, God fearing, family folks that have not been involved in ANY of the significant acts of violence over the last year and a half; or even littering, for that matter. Even Rep. Cleaver finally admitted he was not spit upon or called names. Leftists know that these people work hard to include everyone and the false charge is very upsetting to them.

I have been to many rallies that are basically “Tea Parties”. Millions of people are angry over reckless spending and arrogant leadership, and some will occasionally wish about bopping some generic, absent leader or another in the nose. There are a few mocking pictures, but zero death threats and zero “lynching” comments or nooses. With the tens of thousands of protesters I have seen and signs I have read, I know of only one actual racist statement from the right:
At a rally of about 5,000 protesters, a carload of teenagers (these were black, but passersby were of all groups and mostly supportive) yelled obscenities at us. Most of us just laughed, but one protester yelled the same words back, adding [the N word] at the end. This “fellow protester” was immediately set upon by those who were close enough to see, and shouted down for lowering us “to their level” and hurting the fair, factual arguments we were making. He left on his own.

Obviously, in any group of many millions, there will be a few bad actors. However, since the Tea Parties seek restoration of the Constitution and Declaration of Independence, their ideals include “domestic tranquility” and “all Men are created equal”. We oppose the whims of a powerful few over the equal rule of law. Some of the stars of the rallies are intelligent, free-thinking minority members who have sought the truth on their own. They are often attacked by those splinter groups and Democrats, who do not want “their” minorities thinking for themselves or looking into things.

My invitation: check for yourself. Stop (with a smile) and chat at a rally. At least check out “that other news channel”.

It's been a long road, but we have miles yet to go.

As November approaches, it is important to keep past and approaching events in mind. It may be difficult with the flood of outrageous actions over the last year or two, and a probable storm of smoke and mirrors in the coming weeks. Here are a few items to recall; readers will think of many more.

First, recall that Progressive Democrats (including Senator Obama) controlled the House and Senate since 2006, when they pushed through reckless Frank/Dodd mortgage rules under Bush. They gained a super-majority (unable to be blocked or vetoed) in 2008. With halfhearted Republican opposition, TARP was passed and hundreds of billions of dollars were “misplaced”, plus those still being hoarded by cronies and financial institutions. Credit and banking did not significantly recover.

President Obama was elected to limit special interests, improve transparency in government and eliminate corruption.

Despite clear opposition by the people, a massive takeover of health care (directed by Obama) was forced through, as Speaker Pelosi put it, by “going over or under the wall [will of the people and growing GOP resistance], pole vaulting or parachuting over it”. They “deemed” votes as passed, pressured and bribed legislators and abused budget-resolution rules for a non-budget bill. She said we had to “wait to see what’s in it”, though a few news outlets did accurately reveal most of the bloated, incomprehensible 2,000 pages in advance. Every day confirms more bad surprises, topped by an avowed “redistribution of wealth” Socialist administrator, withheld by Obama until recess to avoid public examination.

A “shovel ready job stimulus” bill was also forced through, with more billions sent to foreign countries and Democratic cronies, lost in non-existent zip codes or Congressional districts, or wasted on amenities than was spent on permanent job creation. Most of it is not even scheduled for “use” for years to come. Employment never did recover and are once again falling, as is the stock market, despite claims of victory over the recession. In fact, Obama’s appointees to his own debt commission declared today that the reckless spending we have seen is “unsustainable” and “will make the country go broke”. They cautioned that only reduced spending, not increasing taxes, would avert collapse and aid in recovery.

Obama was swift in condemning the correct actions of a Cambridge Police Officer though, “I don’t know the facts”, and dismissing the guilty plea of Khalid Sheik Mohammad in favor of a civilian show trial where (as he and his appointee, A.G. Holder said), “he’ll get a fair trial and be convicted and executed”. However, it took Obama four months to give his hand-picked general only part of the urgently needed reinforcements for Afghanistan. His E.P.A. and Labor appointees were (and still are) delaying and denying oil skimming, disbursing and removing efforts, before he even acknowledged the Gulf disaster. FEMA is M.I.A. But he quickly shut down (twice, against court order) all other oil rigs, without intent to inspect them, throwing American production and employment under the bus. He immediately pronounced Arizona’s law (mirroring federal law to protect citizens from $2 billion in annual waste, gangs, drugs, kidnapping and murder) as “racial profiling” and had Holder file suit against it, though they denied for months that they had even read it and it specifically prohibits any profiling. Holder also ordered dismissal, after conviction, of the case of two armed Black Panther thugs that threatened and prevented white voters (and a conservative, black poll watcher) from entering a polling place. Their calls to “kill crackers” and “kill their babies” have not even been denounced, though non-existent “Tea Party violence” remains a topic of DOJ investigation.

But wait, there’s more. Progressive Democrats quadrupled Bush’s debt in just over a year and now threaten to cap and tax all energy production, trade and consumption, a second “stimulus” bill, a federal VAT (applied at every stage of production) sales tax in addition to income taxes, amnesty for illegal aliens and restrictions on media and internet freedom. The latest is the “DISCLOSE” (Democracy Is Strengthened by Casting Light On Spending in Elections) act, a cynically named plan to limit campaign spending to favor incumbents and lock-out new candidates. Democrats admit they will lose many house and senate seats, despite planned giveaways, promises, political tricks and maybe a crisis or two. Many have threatened to use their “lame duck” session (with nothing left to lose) to ram through every reckless, extremist measure they can deem, pole-vault, arm-twist, bribe, or hide before new Representatives are seated in January.

These are some of the things we should remember in November.

Over his head

In a July 11th letter, a reader tries to ridicule the Ontario City Council for placing “In God we trust” with the City Seal. He tries to invoke the will of the majority, claiming an inflated 17% of the population is atheist. Actually, that number comes from the promoters of Atheism itself; the same ones that claim that Atheism must mean one is “smarter” or more to the point, “religion causes brain damage”. The actual percentage of atheists is closer to 8%, while those that claim some sort of belief in God have remained steady at about 80%. Regardless, the reader states in one breath that we have a Republic, but should all vote on such decisions as if in a Democracy (and not have representative city councils).

Further, the reader is troubled by the fact that Councilmember Wapner ensured that such displays are legal before they acted. What an irresponsible thing for them to do!

The reader then tells us that, “there is this silly little clause in the U.S. Constitution called the separation of church and state, you know.” Dear reader, these words do not appear anywhere in either the Constitution (with its amendments) or the Declaration of Independence. They were not expressed in the writings of the Founders. The framers of the Constitution were of several faiths, and knew the damage of imposing religion (or it’s lack), like any totalitarian decree, in the places they came from. The phrase was concocted by the American Communist Party early in the 20th century, before they changed to “Progressive Socialists”, then “Liberals” and recently “Progressives”. They also suppressed use of the second part of the freedom of religion clause in the Bill of Rights: “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise therof…”. The Constitution is a restraint on government, not the People.

Finally, the reader predicted some kind of “loss of unity” because of the phrase, though doing what’s right, what each of us believes God would want, has been one of the greatest rallying points of Americans since before the Revolution. He tries to claim that God can mean only “the Christian God”, though the term refers to the supreme being of Jews, Muslims, Hindus and every other believing person.

Sincere children of God encourage others to join them, but would not consider forcing anyone to accept their imperfect interpretation of faith; why is it that disbelievers insist on inflicting their lack on others?
